Mark joined Van Elle in August 2018. He is a graduate of Imperial College, London and a chartered civil engineer with more than 30 years experience in the infrastructure, construction and utility sectors. Mark held senior leadership roles with major UK contractors including 15 years with Carillion prior to joining Morgan Sindall in 2005 as Managing Director of the infrastructure division Morgan Est. Mark was subsequently Chief Executive of Barhale from 2010 to 2014 before joining Balfour Beatty in 2015 to lead the UK regional business and latterly the Balfour Beatty VINCI joint venture for High Speed 2.
Graeme joined Van Elle in February 2020 from Severfield plc where he was Group financial controller. Prior to that he was with ASX listed engineering services company Engenco in Australia, where he was CFO and Company Secretary for four years. Prior to this Graeme held senior financial roles at Shepherd Group and Premier Farnell. A chartered accountant and FCA qualified, he trained with PWC and is a mathematics graduate of Imperial College, London.
Ian joined Van Elle in 1987 starting as a piling operative. Ian has held several roles in over 30 years with the company and is now operations director with responsibility for ensuring efficient and effective project delivery and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Dave is a chartered civil engineer with extensive experience across the construction sector. Dave joined Van Elle in 2001 and has been part of the senior leadership team since 2016 and divisional director for several of Van Elle’s divisions in that period. He now leads the diverse Specialist Piling division which incorporates ScrewFast Foundations.
Malcolm joined Van Elle in June 2019. He has 20 years’ experience in ground engineering and deep foundation construction in the UK, since joining Stent Foundations as a graduate engineer in 1997 and progressing to Managing Director of Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering from 2013. He is responsible for overseeing our Piling and Housing divisions.
David is a chartered mechanical engineer but also has a background in geotechnical engineering. David joined Van Elle in January 2021 having previously led Balfour Beatty Omnicom; an international track monitoring and consultancy business and held several senior roles in Balfour Beatty Rail including engineering director. David is responsible for our Rail division and Strata Geotechnics.
Hayley joined Van Elle in February 2020 from Balfour Beatty Rail & Utilities where she was HR business partner for various business units including power, rail and technical services over an 11-year period. Prior to that Hayley was HR manager for National Express East Midlands Trains.
Andy joined Van Elle in January 2021. He is a legally trained chartered Quantity Surveyor who has worked for contractors, consultants and employers in civil engineering, general construction and industrial engineering in the UK and internationally.
Andy has a vast breadth and depth of experience as a QS and commercial manager in corporate management and delivery of construction and engineering projects. Having joined the team in 2021, Andy is responsible for the commercial function throughout our divisions pre and post contract.
Dan joined Van Elle in April 2021 when the Group acquired ScrewFast Foundations Limited. Dan developed ScrewFast into the UK’s leading helical piling and steel modular foundations provider with a leading position in highways. He has been involved in projects as diverse as the North Sea Observatory, several smart motorway schemes, Royal Free Hospital Hampshire and the London 2012 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games.
Matt leads the Group’s major projects and strategic preconstruction activities. He has over 20 years of geotechnical and foundation experience, with a particular emphasis on the infrastructure sector. Matt’s background covers roles in design, pre-construction and general management.
Before re-joining Van Elle in 2022 Matt was the managing director of JRL Civil Engineering from 2020 and prior to that held divisional director and major bids roles in Van Elle from 2017. Matt’s career started as a design / estimating engineer with Pennine Vibro Piling in 2002, moved on to Expanded Piling and was promoted to Design Manager in 2006. After leaving Expanded Piling, in 2008, Matt was managing director for Gecco2, a ground source heating contractor specialising in commercial and energy pile installations. Matt returned to the foundations sector with Van Elle in 2016.
