Working on behalf of Osborne in Laverstock near Salisbury, the rail team provided embankment stabilisation repairs due to damage caused by the poor weather experienced in the early part of the year.
We were able to respond immediately, utilising our in-house road rail vehicles and dedicated transport fleet, providing on the ground expertise swiftly. Our experience in ground stabilisation and embankments enabled us to provide a solution that initially stabilised the slip with the installation of 160 no. sheet piles.
These were installed from track level, utilising a Colmar road rail vehicle with specific attachments for driving sheet piles and a crane to lift in the lengthy sheet piles. These works provided a temporary measure to allow the lines to reopen to traffic whilst permanent works were completed.
John Allsop, Engineering Director for the Rail division at Van Elle stated,
“Our ability to mobilise quickly and effectively to site, coupled with our experience, and track record means we were well placed to provide immediate response to ensure the network remains open and efficient. A great job by all the team.”
