Van Elle’s Rail division has recently received one of our Colmar T10,000 road rail vehicles (RRVs) back into service following an extensive upgrade, as part of our fleet investment and refresh programme.
The Tracked Colmar T10,000 is a specialist heavy lifter suitable for a wide range of works including piling works and structures installation. It is one of four extensive fleet of road rail vehicles we own and operate.
With the capability to run a wide range of attachments including, Movax, BSP Impact Hammers, VESPA Mast, SPIRIT Masts and Rhino Horn long reach. The Colmar T10000 is one of the leading RRVs, helping to increase productivity and reduce costs across the rail sector.
After a busy seven years of work out on the Network, RRVs are mandated to be upgraded to the latest version of industry standard RIS1530 to ensure conformance.
Which meant our Colmar VER006 was taken out of service for a short time to allow the overhaul to be undertaken.
The upgrade involved a complete strip down and reinstallation of all safety critical systems which included the Rated Capacity Indicator (RCI) system and Any Line Open (ALO) Virtual wall system, as well as the replacement of key safety critical components.
The RRV was also re-tip tested for lifting duties, inspected, and signed off by the Plant Acceptance Body and issued with new ECC documentation.
The upgrade was undertaken by our supply chain partner EP Industries who are experts at Rail plant modifications and upgrades with extensive specialist capabilities such as an in-house tip testing bed.
The RRV upgrade programme demonstrates a considerable investment by the company and ensures that we remain well-positioned to continue to successfully deliver projects for our customers.
